Founded in 1854, the Deutsch Texanischer Sänger Bund (DTSB) is a non-profit organization whose goal is to cultivate music in general and German choral music in particular. Any society or choir that pursues this purpose can become a member of the association. Current membership includes 12 choirs across Texas and participation in the annual Säengerfest is required to stay in good standing. Choirs take turns hosting the Sängerfest which is always the first Sunday in May.
