San Antonio Liederkranz Celebrates Texas’ Independence Day

The San Antonio Liederkranz will be performing this Saturday, February 28th, at Washington-on-the-Brazos museum/park in Washington, TX. The choir is part of the program celebrating Texas’ 190 years of Independence. This is a weekend festival at the park – that is open to public- attendance is free. SA Liederkranz will be performing at 2PM.  It is a mini-concert, lasting about an hour. The choir is part of six groups participating in the program.  We are the only choir performing. Officially Texas independence day is March 2nd.
The choir was invited this year.  In 1938 the SA Liederkranz helped celebrate the 100th anniversary of Texas Independence at the same location. The choir this year will be performing in the same amphitheater, as that SAL choir did in 1938. The choir’s music will be Texas lore, Religious, and Texas/USA nationalism. The music will be sung 75% in German. All are welcome to come and enjoy.
